| EVENT DESCRIPTION | A visit to Tate Modern to see the exhibition – Frida:The Making of an Icon’, which traces Frida Kahlo’s artistic evolution through her life and artwork. It includes a selection of revered self portraits, some of her traditional Mexican dresses and jewellery and several photographs. Along with her artwork the exhibition features many artworks and objects by contemporaries and later artists influenced by her aesthetics and legacy.
Before visiting the exhibition Gwyneth is planning to give a 10 minutes or so talk about Frida’s evolution as an artist, from her Mexican roots and after a terrible bus accident which left her with lifelong mobility issues, and also through her turbulent marriage to Mexico’s very important Modernist artist, Diego Rivera. At the same time as the talk, the group can enjoy a coffee together in the Corner Cafe and Bar on the ground floor level of Tate Modern by the Turbine Hall entrance. |
| COST: | Standard tickets for the Exhibition are £25 but some concessions are available and Tate Members have free entry, but still need to book timed tickets for 12.15. [Tickets can be bought in person at the ticket desk on level 0 in the Turbine Hall but advanced booking is recommended] |
| OPEN TO: | LSAG Members and one guest per member. |
| MAXIMUM No. | No maximum number for the group but the exhibition is popular so we hope for up to 15 to 20 people. |
