Starting at Richard and Alison’s home in Graffham, West Sussex, there will be optional Sketching in the Davidson’s garden / village from 10am.
A light lunch will be provided with contributions from those attending at 12.30pm, followed by the LSAG Annual General Meeting at 1.30pm.
The day will finish with a visit to Philip Jackson’s sculpture garden and studio at 4pm in the nearby village of Cocking where we will meet Philip, see some of his sculptures and have tea and refreshments.
Jackson’s monumental Venice inspired gallery sculptures are instantly recognisable but he is perhaps even better known for his public commissions.
Ranging from the Bomber Command Memorial in London’s Green Park to Statues of Bobby Moore and Sir Matt Busby; from Mahatma Gandhi in Parliament Square, Raoul Wallenberg, the Falkland War sculpture, the Gurkha monument, the Chelsea pensioner, and the late Queen’s Golden Jubilee Equestrian sculpture in Windsor Great Park – and, locally, the St Richard and “Christ in Judgement” at Chichester Cathedral.
